A Timeless Kitchen Remodel in Scarborough, Maine
This Scarborough kitchen had good bones—but it wasn’t keeping up with the rest of the house. Dark cabinetry, a heavy soffit, and a two-tier island made the space feel disconnected and hard to navigate, especially during gatherings. Our clients, passionate about cooking and hosting, came to us with a simple request: make it work better—and feel better, too.
We began by asking the right questions. How do you cook? Where do you prep? What drives you crazy after a dinner party? The answers shaped everything from the layout to the storage solutions.
A Kitchen Designed for the Way They Live
At the heart of the new kitchen is a Galley Workstation—a streamlined prep zone that’s as efficient as it is elegant. It gives the home chef one centralized spot for chopping, rinsing, and serving, freeing up the rest of the kitchen for movement and conversation.
Other custom features were designed around the homeowner’s habits. A wide top drawer next to the stove now holds an angled spice insert, allowing every jar to be clearly seen at a glance—no more digging through cabinets mid-recipe. A built-in knife block and oversized drawers for cookware keep everything within reach and clutter off the counters. It’s a space that flows as intuitively as it functions.
Warm, Clean, and Built to Last
Visually, the space needed to feel timeless without leaning too traditional. We chose mission-style cabinetry with a clean profile and paired it with slate-blue lowers to bring in a grounded, calming tone. A full-height herringbone backsplash adds a little rhythm and texture while maximizing the room’s natural light.
Quartz countertops with subtle movement bring everything together—offering a surface that’s durable, low-maintenance, and quietly beautiful.
A Kitchen That Fits Their Life
Today, the space feels like it belongs—not just in the house, but to the people who live there. It’s open, intuitive, and easy to enjoy whether you're making breakfast or hosting friends for the evening.
Because the best kitchens aren’t just about style—they’re about how they support your life.
