Arcadia Builders was founded on a simple idea: the people planning your space should be the same people building it. Over thirty years later, that idea still runs the company.

Meet Mike & Kim Connell

Arcadia was born from a desire to deliver the best possible experience for clients taking on a remodeling project. Over and over, Mike saw the disconnect between the field crew and the designers. At the end of the day, the client deserves a planned process where everyone works together to keep the project smooth and organized.

By bringing the designers, project manager, and field crew under one roof as one team, we gain better control of the schedule and less disruption to your life. Sourcing all materials saves you time by eliminating trips from place to place to find the right product. The quality of our work is such that you know your time and investment were worth it, and it is one reason we offer a 5-year warranty on our work and materials.

Mike and I were both raised by parents with strong morals, strong values, and a strong work ethic. We raised our girls the same way, and those are the qualities we look for when someone joins the Arcadia family. In return, we make sure our team has the best tools, fair compensation, and good benefits, so they know how much we appreciate their hard work.

Raising our two daughters, and that time taught us how a home really works: homework at the island while dinner cooks, a crowded bathroom on a busy school morning, the spaces that bring a family together. Now, with grandchildren in the house, I see it all over again. Every kitchen and bath I design has to be beautiful, but it also has to work for the family living in it.

At Arcadia, our work is guided by a few values we hold close. Every craftsperson on our team is an employee, not a subcontractor, so our crews work well together and carry the proper insurance to protect your home and your project. From the start, our designers set the groundwork for a smooth build. Our project managers and lead carpenters stay in close contact with each other, with you, and with your designer as the details come together, and every member of our team is happy to answer your questions along the way. We value lasting relationships and want you to feel comfortable and supported throughout the process. That's why we offer the longest warranty in Southern Maine: a 5-year warranty on everything we provide for your project. Trust and transparency matter to us too. We take the time to get to know you and your vision, so you'll feel at ease with your designer and contractor from start to finish. Our team loves what we do, and while we always stay professional, we also know that designing and building a new space can be a lot of fun. Meet The Team

Mike has seen it all, and he's probably built most of it. His projects have run from the smallest repair to a $16 million condo development. Along the way he held a General Contractor's license in North Carolina and managed the structural improvements at the Cliff House Resort here in Maine. Today he runs the construction side of Arcadia Builders, keeps the finances in line, and works with the team to keep the company running smoothly. He has always loved business management and project development, and he works hard to make customers and employees feel comfortable and part of the team. Tell Mike a project is "tricky" and his eyes light up, because he loves a good challenge. As the proud dad of two amazing girls and grandpa to three, he's been through life's best moments and its aches and pains. He's taught his family that hard times matter a lot less when you have a strong support system and love what you do. When he's not working (which is almost never), he’d rather be on a boat. Mike can tackle any project, except the ones on Kim's honey-do list.

Kim Connell

As one of the founders of Arcadia Builders, Kim wanted the design process to feel easy for every client. She has always loved taking a well-used space and giving it a fresh start. To her, the kitchen is where the whole family comes together to connect, and usually where everyone ends up at a party anyway. Before she became a designer, Kim was a hairstylist and educator who loved creating new looks for her clients. It turns out a kitchen isn't so different from a great haircut: it should look beautiful, suit the person, and never go out of style. She brings that eye for design and fashion to every kitchen she creates. When she's not at work, Kim is tending her gardens, learning something new, traveling, or spending time with her fabulous daughters and husband. Given the choice, though, she'd rather be playing with the grandkids. And if Mike hides out on the boat to avoid her honey-do list, she'll just add "find Mike" to the list.

Caitlin Tucker

Caitlin has her master’s degree in Interior Architecture from The New England School of Art and Design. Before Arcadia, she was an integral part of dozens of residential and commercial projects across New England during her time in Boston.

She has drawn floor plans since she was a kid and knew design was always something she wanted to do. One of her favorite parts of the job is the client’s reaction after her design exceeds their original expectation. Her favorite design details are millwork, materials, and lighting.

Caitlin spends a good amount of her free time looking at design inspiration but also enjoys skiing, art, antiquing, and animals, including her pet house rabbit and giant Newfoundland, Mabel.
